this is an authentic antique French majolica plate produced by H. Boulenger & Cie at the famous Choisy-le-Roi pottery factory.

 

  • The black ink stamp features a prominent letter "B" intertwined with a ribbon script reading "Choisy-le-Roi". The "HB" stands for Hippolyte Boulenger, who directed the factory during its peak production years. [1]
  • Estimated Age: This specific mark and style of monochrome "émaux ombrants" (shaded enamel) date the plate to circa 1880–1900. [1]
  • Production Context: The turquoise-tinted glaze on the back is typical of French majolica from this era. The small circular indentations in a triangular pattern are "stilt marks" left by the stilts used to support the piece inside the kiln during firing. [1]
  • Condition: The visible networks of fine lines across the glaze, the natural aging process for 19th-century earthenware and helps verify its authenticity. Overall condition Very good no issues a gift ready item.
