  • The Artist's Career: After returning to Germany from England in 1912, Bruno Bielefeld settled in Berlin and spent the 1920s and 1930s extensively traveling to and documenting historic German townscapes, including Nuremberg.
  • The Architecture: The grand domed structure in the background is the Grand Synagogue of Nuremberg at Hans-Sachs-Platz. Because it was constructed in 1874 and subsequently demolished by the Nazi regime in the late summer of 1938, this print acts as a historical record created prior to its destruction.
  • The Presentation: The original dark Art Deco wood molding and textured matting are highly characteristic of professional German framing styles from the Interwar period
